KYIV, Nov 26 (Reuters) – Ukraine is seeking a $100 million loan from the World Bank to buy doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, deputy health minister Svitlana Shatalova said on Thursday, as the number of new infections in the country hit a daily record high.

The declaration launched at the EU summit on Thursday states that the rule-of-law link to funds will be applied objectively and only to safeguard the proper use of EU money, rather than to punish countries under the separate EU rule-of-law probes.

The decision is awaiting approval from the Indian Prime Minister’s office and is set to be announced within one to two weeks. The South Asian nation will restrict bidders from any country it shares a land border with, under amended investment rules that cite concerns over national security, according to the report.

Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland remain just twinkles in Zinedine Zidane’s eye, unlikely to arrive at the club before next summer at the very earliest. Eden Hazard’s box of tricks are back in the drawer until 2021 after yet another injury setback. Real Madrid took a big gamble five years ago but in the midst of this pandemic and all its restrictions on spending – and with the last of the big signings, Hazard, hampered by injury – it could well really begin to pay off.

“Russia performs a very important function … And of course, a change in some status quo, which is based on the spirit and letter of international law, could lead to serious destabilisation,” Peskov told reporters in Moscow.

A report released by Australian Defence Force Chief Angus Campbell earlier this month found special forces committed at least 39 unlawful killings during the Afghanistan war and treated two prisoners with cruelty.

Ukraine´s Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said last week the country hoped to receive 8 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in the first half of next year under the global COVAX Facility, which has been set up to provide the vaccine to poorer countries.

The Russian-speakers of Transdniestria nominally seceded from Moldova in 1990, one year before the dissolution of the Soviet Union, fearing the country might shortly merge with Romania, whose language and culture it broadly shares.

Sandu struck a conciliatory tone after her victory but on Monday called for Russian troops in Transdniestria to be removed in favour of civilian monitors under the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Chinese telecoms Huawei and ZTE are expected to be locked out of India’s 5G rollout plans amid spiralling relations between the neighbouring countries, according to a Bloomberg report published Thursday.

Royalties from its patent portfolio are expected to account for about a third of Ericsson’s forecast 29 billion crowns of operating profit in 2021, and this lawsuit could cut earnings by around 20% per quarter, said Liberum analyst Janardan Menon.

That will be the story again on Tuesday night in Kiev as Madrid go in search of the three points that will see them through to the last 16 of the Champions League. And if Odegaard does become the main attraction, on Tuesday and going into the new year, it will highlight how clever the club was to sign him in January 2015 when others believed it was an over-the-top investment in one so young.
